RT Practice Day
UAS

Successfully completing your Radio Telephony (RT) theory and practical exams is a significant achievement. However, making that first live contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC), especially for operations within Controlled Airspace (CTR), can still be a daunting experience. Our RT Practice Day, also known as “CTR surgery training,” is specifically designed to bridge this gap.

This intensive, hands-on course focuses on refining the essential skills for safe, efficient, and confident communication with ATC. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you will gain invaluable practical experience in requesting permissions, preparing and executing flight plans that involve ATC coordination, and establishing effective communication links. We aim to ensure that when you make your debut call to ATC, you do so with clarity and confidence.

Duration:Typically a 1-day intensive session.
Prerequisites:
  • Successful completion of formal RT (Radio Telephony) theory and practical examinations (i.e., holding an RT operator’s certificate/qualification).
  • A good understanding of standard aviation phraseology.
  • Relevant EASA remote pilot certificate (e.g., A2 with specific authorisation considerations, STS, or RPCT, as operations in CTR usually fall under the Specific Category).
Certificate:Certificate of Participation/Completion in RT Practice Day for CTR Operations.
Recognized Entity:International Drone Academy / IDA Finland
Languages:English
Participants:in-classroom training
Minimum Age:Aligned with the prerequisite RT qualification and EASA remote pilot certificate.
Professional UAS Flight Training
UAS

Our Professional UAS Flight Training programs are designed to elevate your practical piloting skills, tailored to your specific professional goals and operational needs. We understand that every pilot’s journey is unique, which is why we emphasize a personalized approach, often starting with an intake session to define your objectives and plan your training path.

Whether you’re looking to fulfill mandatory self-training requirements, prepare for advanced EASA category operations, enhance your general flying skills, specialize in aerial imaging, or master emergency procedures, our expert instructors can develop a program for you. This training focuses on hands-on experience to build true competency and confidence in the air.

Duration:Variable: Duration is customized based on individual training goals, current skill level, and the specific modules chosen. This is determined during an initial intake and planning session.
Prerequisites:
  • A valid EASA remote pilot certificate (e.g., A1/A3 as a minimum foundation).
  • Specific prerequisites may apply depending on the chosen training focus:
    1. For “Mandatory self-training for A2”: An A1/A3 certificate is required.
    2. For “Practical training EASA specific category”: An A1/A3 certificate and potentially theoretical knowledge for the Specific Category (e.g., from RPCT or STS studies).
  • Access to a suitable UAS may be required for certain modules, or can be arranged. Please discuss during the intake session.
Certificate:Certificate of Completion/Proficiency in [Specific Skill Area Trained, e.g., Advanced Flying Skills, UAS Emergency Procedures, Aerial Cinematography Basics]. The specifics depend on the training modules completed.
Recognized Entity:International Drone Academy / IDA Finland
Languages:English
Participants:in-classroom training
Minimum Age:Aligned with the prerequisite EASA certificate held by the pilot.
UAS type training
UAS

After obtaining your necessary EASA remote pilot certificates, gaining in-depth familiarity with the specific Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) you will operate is paramount for safety and efficiency. Our UAS Type Training is designed to bridge this gap, ensuring you are not just certified, but also truly competent and confident with your particular drone and its accessories.

This hands-on training focuses on the unique features, settings, flight characteristics, maintenance requirements, and emergency procedures of your chosen UAS model. We cover a wide range of common professional systems and can often tailor training for other manufacturer’s drones as well.

As this training is highly practical and system-specific, you will typically use your own drone and accessories, allowing you to learn directly on the equipment you’ll be deploying. This ensures the skills you acquire are immediately transferable to your professional operations.

Duration:Variable (Typically 1 to 2 days, depending on the complexity of the UAS model, pilot's prior experience, and specific training objectives).
Prerequisites:

– A valid EASA remote pilot certificate relevant to the intended operation of the UAS (e.g., A1/A3, A2, STS, RPCT).
– Participants are generally required to bring their own UAS (drone model and accessories) for the training. Please confirm if a training model can be provided if you do not have your own.
– Sufficient batteries for the participant’s own drone.

Certificate:Certificate of Completion for UAS Type Training (specifying the UAS model trained on).
